Visiting the sacred Munir Ansay Pagoda in the heart of Can Tho

A Brief History

Initially, the pagoda was a simple structure made of bamboo, leaves, and reeds. Through numerous renovations and restorations, by 1954, the pagoda gate was constructed, featuring an impressive design inspired by Angkor Wat’s three-towered sanctuary. The main hall was finally completed in 1988, transforming Munir Ansay into one of the most beautiful and majestic pagodas in Can Tho City.

Captivating Architecture

The pagoda’s architecture is a major draw for visitors. The sacred and magnificent space exudes a distinctive Angkorian style. The vibrant gold paint on the walls and Buddha statues symbolizes prosperity and good fortune, creating a mesmerizing beauty that captivates all who visit.

Experiencing Khmer Traditional Festivals

Munir Ansay Pagoda is not only a place of worship but also a cultural center for the Khmer community. If you have the opportunity to visit during traditional festivals like Chol Chnam Thmay (Khmer New Year), you can immerse yourself in a festive atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy graceful Khmer dances, lively music, and delicious Southern Khmer cuisine.

Admiration of the Buddha Statue

The exquisitely crafted and majestic Buddha statue creates a sacred and solemn atmosphere within the main hall. Additionally, the murals surrounding the main hall depict the life and teachings of the Buddha, offering visitors a deep insight into Buddhism and Khmer culture.
Visiting Munir Ansay Pagoda is a delightful cultural experience for those who appreciate spiritual tourism and exploring Khmer culture. The pagoda provides a serene and peaceful atmosphere while deepening your understanding of the history, architecture, and spiritual life of the Southern Khmer people. Plan a trip to Can Tho and don’t forget to visit the pagoda for an unforgettable experience.
